Texas S3DA Hosts State Indoor Championship

Williamsburg, KY – The inaugural Texas S3DA Indoor State Championship was held at Cinnamon Creek Archery in Roanoke, Texas. Laura Shambaugh, Texas S3DA State Coordinator and former Michigan S3DA State Coordinator has done a tremendous job in her transition and helping the state of Texas to grow. There were several archers representing 4 Texas S3DA clubs competing at this event. Archers competed for awards, scholarships and to qualify for the S3DA National Indoor Championship.

Texas S3DA Regional Coordinator, Roger Koss stated, “I am very excited to assist in growing our program in Texas. The parents are very excited to see the true opportunities that are associated with S3DA membership, as 7 archers were presented with scholarships from Union College in Barbourville, KY. I cannot wait to see the number of participants at the Texas S3DA 3D Championship coming up at Archers Haven in Canyon Lake, Texas in June”.

“We have some great archers in the state of Texas, and the competition is exciting. Jacob Gonzales and Zachary Rebstock had 1 X separating them in the High School Open Division. With scores of 150, 28 X’s and 150, 27 X’s, these kids are simply amazing. I am extremely grateful to be able to help with this event so that I can learn more about S3DA. I am currently in the process of becoming an S3DA coach and starting my own club so that this organization can continue to grow,” said Craig Pullen, Cinnamon Creek Archery Event Manager.

Started in December 2012 by the Scholastic Archery Association, S3DA has grown exponentially as a next step program to follow introductory programs offered as part of 4-H or the National Archery in Schools Program. S3DA addresses the need for a program to bridge beginning target archery experience and more advanced activities such as 3-D shooting and bowhunting. The program currently operates across the United States with hundreds of certified coaches serving

thousands of young archers, grades 3–12.
