Oregon S3DA Indoor State Championship

Williamsburg, KY – Bend Bowmen S3DA club in Bend, Oregon recently hosted the Oregon S3DA Indoor State Championship. Oregon S3DA doubled their numbers in participation and attendance from last year’s event with sixty plus archers competing and more than one-hundred people on-site throughout the day. Three NEW S3DA clubs participated in their very first S3DA State Tournament. Bend Bowmen Archery Club has the largest indoor range in Central Oregon and their indoor range is a great space for events, as there is room behind the waiting line and additional lobby space for spectators to watch from.

S3DA Oregon State Coordinator, Stephanie Rustad stated, “I woke up the day of the event and looked outside my hotel window to see snow falling outside and I immediately thought what a beautiful day for an archery tournament. This was our first time running two flights at a State Indoor event and we had many more kids then we were used to. We had two staff members on hand and an Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife volunteer, in addition to all the club and team coaches that were on hand. It really does take a village to pull everything together. It was great to see the growth in the kids from the beginning of the season till this event. I am proud of all of the hard work these kids put into archery and I hope to see them back to participate in this event next year.”

Rhyan and Randi Turner are 16-year old twins that currently compete for Umpqua Valley Archers S3DA. Both archers have been shooting their bows for about three years. When asked how they liked the Oregon Indoor State Championship, they stated, “Our favorite part of archery is competing against one another. We are very close score wise and we never know which one of us will win that day. We are excited to see our club grow and see the other members competing in tournaments alongside us.”
