USA Archery Welcomes Foxworth, Sharma and Porter as Independent Directors

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – This month, USA Archery welcomes three Independent directors to the USA Archery Board of Directors. The USA Archery Board of Directors represents the interests of the USA Archery community and its athletes by providing the organization with policy, guidance, and strategic direction. The Board oversees the management of USA Archery and its affairs, but it does not manage the organization. The Board focuses on long-term objectives and impacts, empowering the Chief Executive Officer to manage a staff-driven organization with effective Board oversight.

Independent Directors shall be determined to have no material relationship with USAA, either directly or through an organization that has a material relationship with USAA. The USA Archery Nominating & Governance Committee (NG&C) selects Independent Directors and has appointed Belinda Foxworth and Bobby Sharma to serve four-year terms from 2022-2025 and Jeff Porter to serve a two-year term from 2022-2023 (to implement the staggering of terms). Jennifer Rottenberg is currently serving her second term as an Independent Director through 2023.

After discussions with the USA Archery Board Chair and CEO on the needs of the organization, the N&GC prioritized candidates with diversified backgrounds, an understanding of the National Governing Body world, non-profit sport knowledge, Multi-Sport Organization experience, legal background and experience in sponsorship, fundraising and foundation management. The Directors they have selected bring strong qualities that will strengthen the direction of USA Archery as the organization looks to build a brighter future.

Belinda Foxworth, former Chairman of the Board, Chair of the Audit Committee, and N&GC member for USA Archery rejoins as an Independent. Foxworth resides in Sarasota, Fla. and is currently the Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer for Gulf Oil. She has held this position since 2017. Foxworth has years of experience serving as a member of various executive teams and has upwards of 25 years of experience in the energy sector. Foxworth has a Bachelor of Arts from Rollins College, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Michigan and a Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center.

Bobby Sharma is a Partner at the Private Equity firm GACP Sports, the Vice Chairman and CEO of soccer business conference and media company Soccerex, Managing Partner of Electronic Sports Group, and Special Adviser to the law firm Foley & Lardner LLP. Sharma has over 20 years of experience in sports, media, and entertainment, including a focus on strategy, finance, technology, and law. He also serves on the N&GC for USA Table Tennis, and the Board of Directors for video game peripherals company Arkade, Inc. Over the years, Sharma has been honored with several awards, including the Association of Media & Entertainment Counsel’s “Sports Counsel of the Year” (2010), and the Asian American Business Development Center’s “Outstanding 50 Asian Americans in Business” (2014). Sharma is a graduate of Duke University and Duke Law School, and resides in Bronxville, NY.

Dr. Jeff Porter of Canton, Mich. was the Sport Administrator for Track and Field/Cross Country and the Director of Student-Athlete Alumni Relations and Premium Seating at the University of Michigan from 2017 through 2021. Porter has his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan, where he was also an accomplished student athlete. He won the 2007 NCAA Championship, was a three time All American, and won three Big Ten Championships. Porter competed for 10 years as a professional athlete before retiring in 2017. He competed in both the London 2012 and Rio 2016 Olympic Games for Track and Field. Porter attended Eastern Michigan University for his Master’s degree and PhD. He previously served on both USA Taekwondo and USA Track and Field Boards, and was the USA Track & Field AAC Chairman from 2016 until 2020. Porter is currently the Assistant Vice President for Development and Associate Athletic Director at Miami University in Ohio.
