PA S3DA Hosts Indoor State Championship

Williamsburg, KY – Reading Archery Club recently hosted the 2020 Pennsylvania S3DA Indoor State Championship. With a packed house of spectators throughout the day, dozens of archers from across the state gathered to shoot their largest indoor event of the season so far. Bob Lauffer, Reading Archery Coach stated, “I was very impressed with not only the shooting displayed throughout the tournament but the sportsmanship each of these kids showed. It was evident that the participants appreciated outstanding performances by their peers.”

Eric Broughton, Head coach of Southern Tioga Area Bowhunters stated, “This tournament was well organized, and the host club was very accommodating and helpful in getting my shooters registered. The shooting lanes were spacious and well lit and the fire in the fireplace made for a nice camp and outdoors feeling for the archery shoot.”

“We witnessed three clean rounds: one in HS male bowhunter compound, one in MS female open and one in MS male open. The story of the day might have been an almost clean round shot in the elementary female open class, where one of the archers (Alivia Slusser) shot a clean round for 29 arrows. Alivia was not quite comfortable prior to her last shot and while trying to let down, launched her arrow inadvertently, scoring a zero. All of her coaches and both her parents were busy running the event and before they even realized what had happened, other archers surrounded her in an outpouring of support and understanding. It was tough, but a really touching moment to see the compassion from other archers and parents. This was the best display of sportsmanship that I have ever witnessed,” stated Pete Slusser.
