Michigan Junior Olympic Shotgun Championships

HILLSDALE, Mich. — The John A. Halter Shooting Sports Education Center hosted the 2022 Michigan Junior Olympic Shotgun Championships on May 21-22. The event was hosted in partnership with USA Shooting and was open to the public. Athletes traveled from across the country to compete in the event.

Junior shooters between the ages of 12 and 20 shot 75 targets on the first day of competition and 50 targets on the second, in addition to those targets during the finals.

“These young shooters are impressive, to say the least,” said Caitlin Connor Royer, assistant program development and competition manager. “The talent we see come through these facilities is astounding. I’m hoping to see a lot of these young competitors attend our Junior Olympic Shotgun Championships at the Halter center on July 25-31.”

Hillsdale College shotgun team member Kyle Fleck won first place in the men’s skeet championship match with a score of 110. For a complete list of winners, click here.

The finals competition was opened to out-of-state competitors as well. Josh Corbin of Wisconsin and a Hillsdale College shotgun team member finished first in the men’s skeet final with a score of 114, though he was ineligible to win the match.

Next up on the Halter Center’s long list of summer events is the June 4, High School Trap Championships; June 12-16 JODC International Skeet and Trap; June 17-19 Nationals Warm-Up; and June 19-23 JODC International Trap.
