Texas S3DA Holds Indoor State Championship

Williamsburg, KY – Leading Edge Archery hosted the 2020 Texas Indoor State Championship in Boerne, Texas, with roughly, 54 archers participating from 6 different S3DA clubs. Texas S3DA showed tremendous growth, as numbers more than tripled from the Indoor event held last year. S3DA Texas State Coordinator, Roger Koss, believes the partnerships Texas S3DA has created has a direct impact on the growth of the program. The Safari Club International (SCI), Texas Wildlife Association and Whitetails Unlimited are instrumental in providing conservation education to archers.

The Alamo Chapter of Safari Club International provided archers a free youth membership to SCI. The Texas Wildlife Association provided a free Texas Youth Hunt to the first-place winners of each division. Shelby Green, a high school student who represented the Texas Buckskin Brigades, was present to talk about “The Brigades”. The Brigades is a collection of wildlife and natural resource focused youth leadership development programs. Texas S3DA held a drawing prior to the awards ceremony for Outdoor Edge “S3DA” engraved knives.

The Texas S3DA Indoor State Championship conducted a live virtual signing day ceremony with Liberty University Head Coach Ben Summers and future Liberty University student Natasha Leininger. A Texas A&M San Antonio representative spoke about their university and demonstrated the fact that it is not a requirement that a university have a club or varsity archery team to participate in Collegiate Archery. Southern Careers Institute attended the event and spoke to archers about alternatives to traditional secondary school options and let them know that careers in the trades are valuable. Union College, Southeastern Illinois College and Lindsey Wilson College provided scholarship certificates to all high school podium place finishers.

Roger Koss, TX S3DA State Coordinator stated, “Our growth is also a representation of how partnering with local archery shops like Leading Edge Archery and Archery Outfitters International can help both archery shops and S3DA as a whole.”
