October 31, 2007 USAMU Soldiers win shooting matches
Fort Benning, Georgia - Soldiers of the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit have scored some major victories recently. The following results are some of their accomplishments:
* Creedmoor Cup Matches, Phoenix, Ariz., Oct. 24 to 27 - USAMU service rifle shooter Sgt. Brandon K. Green was the overall winner of the Creedmoor Cup Matches. Sgt. 1st Class Lance D. Dement the 200-Yard Standing Match and Staff Sgt. William T. Pace won the 600-Yard Prone Slow Fire Service Rifle Match. The USAMU Service Rifle Team won the Service Rifle Team Championship. * U.S. Practical Shooting Association Multi-gun Nationals, Tulsa, Okla., Oct. 3 to 8 - Action pistol shooter Pfc. Daniel Horner won the Tactical Division National Championship. * North Carolina State Conventional Pistol Match, Butner, N.C., Sept. 29 and 30 - Service pistol shooter Staff Sgt. James M. Henderson won the .45-Caliber and Center Fire Pistol Aggregates, finished second in the .22-Caliber Aggregate and took second place in the Overall Grand Aggregate. (Formed in 1956 by President Dwight D. Eisenhower to raise the standards of marksmanship throughout the U.S. Army, the Army Marksmanship Unit is assigned to the Accessions Support Brigade of the U.S. Army Accessions Command. The Marksmanship Unit trains its Soldiers to win competitions and enhances combat readiness through train-the-trainer clinics, research and development.
