March 21, 2008 Kentucky's Archerty In The Schools Tournament Won By Pulaski and Henderson County High Schoolers
Frankfort, Kentucky – Ben Blevins of Pulaski County High School scored 296 points and Raven Krampie of Henderson County High School scored 288 points to win the overall competition at Kentucky’s National Archery in the Schools state tournament March 18 in Louisville.
More than 1,700 students from 37 elementary, 42 middle and 35 high schools from all over Kentucky competed in the tournament. Each participant shot 30 arrows in the competition from either 10 or 15 meters for a possible 300 points. A bull’s eye is worth 10 points. All of the top three finishers in the team divisions for elementary, middle and high schools qualify for the national archery tournament scheduled for May 10 in Louisville. The top finishers in the individual awards for each division also qualify for the national tournament. Courtney Campbell of Meade County High School and Taylor Knott of Stuart Pepper Middle School won $1,250 in the scholarship shoot-off to help pay future college expenses.
