NRAblog.com Features National Police Shooting Championships

Fairfax, Virginia -- The 46th National Police Shooting Championships are at the center of the NRA's General Operations blog, www.NRAblog.com, which focuses on representing the programs of the NRA.

'We're eager to broach the new territory of the blogosphere,' said Kayne Robinson, Executive Director of NRA. 'We're able to reach readers who might otherwise be uninformed of our programs, ranging from youth programs and hunter services to the National Police Shooting Championships, which stems from our Law Enforcement Activities Division.'

The Media Relations division is blogging from the Shooting Range Park in Albuquerque this week. Check the blog for photographs from the firing line, live results, and feature stories about competitors, spectators, and volunteers.

The value of NRA's National Police Shooting Championships lies in the fact that this competition realistically tests law enforcement shooting skills. Starting with guns holstered, competitors fire timed matches with both revolvers and semi-automatic pistols from varying distances and positions.

Held since 1962, the National Police Shooting Championship matches are just one of many programs directed by NRA's Law Enforcement Activities Division (LEAD). These programs are supported by the Davidson's Law Enforcement Endowment and the Law Enforcement Training Endowment of The NRA Foundation, including a generous $251,000 donation from Brownells, Inc., as well as donations from more than 100 other firearm and equipment manufacturers and businesses.
