Mossberg's 930 SPX Autoloader Named Shotgun of the Year

North Haven, CT- O.F. Mossberg & Sons, the oldest family-owned firearms manufacturer in America, is pleased to announce its acceptance of the Shooting Industry Academy of Excellence 2009 Shotgun of the Year award for the Mossberg® 930™ SPX™ (Special Purpose Extreme) model. Every year, the Shooting Industry Academy of Excellence honors those with remarkable design, innovation, and service with the awards recognizing those for their prestige and integrity.

In 1992, the Firearms Marketing Group (FMG) decided that the industry needed an award based on merit, with award decisions made by those in the industry, not by an editorial board and not influenced by advertising. A group of nearly 500 individuals including manufacturers, distributors, storefront dealers and outdoor writers volunteer their time each year to recognize excellence in the industry.

"We are extremely pleased with the award from Shooting Industry Academy of Excellence! Mossberg continues our never-ending quest to inject the most versatility and value out of a single firearm, and we knew we had something special on our hands with the 930 SPX," remarks Iver Mossberg, CEO of O.F. Mossberg & Sons, Inc.

The 930 SPX, similar in function to existing 930 Home Security models, is distinguished by its 18.5-inch cylinder-bore barrel, 7-round capacity magazine tube (plus one in the chamber), LPA ghost-ring rear sight and winged fiber optic front sight. The 930 SPX comes equipped with a factory-installed Picatinny rail for custom-optics mounting versatility.

Further outstanding key features of the 930 SPX are its unique ambidextrous thumb-operated safety, the ability to chamber both 2 ¾ inch and 3-inch 12 gauge shotshells, custom stock spacers, Uni-Line™ stock and receiver, and positive-feel cocking indicator. The 930 SPX also includes a free gun lock and a 2-year limited warranty.
