March 10, 2010 Knapp Pursuing Independent Ventures
ELK RIVER, MN - MARCH 9, 2010 - World class exhibition shooter Tom Knapp has left Benelli USA, and is now pursuing independent endeavors including shooting performances, video projects and broadcast programs. Knapp was forced to cancel his 2010 schedule for Benelli USA following a temporary medical condition in late 2009. Benelli subsequently ended its relationship with Knapp. "I had an excellent relationship with Benelli for nearly two decades," said Knapp. "I built a strong, positive image with my fans, sponsors and colleagues. Now I'm quickly regaining my health and looking forward to the next phase of my career." Knapp is in the process of scheduling appearances for the remainder of 2010 and 2011. Knapp's exhibition shows are extraordinary. The show is based on the "old time" exhibition shooter format prevalent during the Annie Oakley era through the late 1950's. He combines this format of yesterday with "tried and tested for safety" routines of today. During performances, Knapp demonstrates his remarkable talents-throwing multiple clay targets in the air with one hand, firing a shotgun from behind his back and below his belt and hitting every target. He demonstrates his world record feat by launching nine clays in the air with one hand, and shooting them all within two seconds. In addition, Knapp also has a .22 rifle show, in which he hits everything from apples and oranges, to billiard chalk cubes and aspirin tablets. His shows incorporate messages about safety, responsibility and good sportsmanship.
