SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The National Sporting Clays Association (NSCA) has named Level III instructor Don Currie as Chief Instructor of the NSCA Instructor Certification Program. Currie replaces Gary Greenway, who is retiring after serving 10 years as the Chief Instructor.

NSCA's Instructor Certification Program is tasked with training and certifying professional instructors all over the country to teach shotgunning and the game of Sporting Clays to shooters of all levels, from beginning to Master. In his new role, Currie will be responsible for administering the NSCA Instructor Certification Program, including developing curriculum and materials and marketing the program.

A well-recognized professional clay target instructor, Currie is an NSCA Level III Certified Instructor, an expert gun fitter, a certified NRA Shotgun, Pistol, and Rifle Instructor, and an NRA Range Safety Officer. He is also an Orvis Wingshooting School and Fly Fishing School Instructor. In addition to competing and coaching professionally, Currie regularly offers NSCA Level I Instructor courses and mentors other instructors throughout the country.

Currie's instructional ventures also extend to writing and video production. He is a columnist for ClayShooting USA, has a highly-rated instructional DVD, and his first book will be published later this year. He writes a weekly column called "Ask the Instructor" for NSSA-NSCA Target Talk, answering reader questions on Sporting Clays topics.

Presently an NSCA Advisory Council member, Currie previously served as president of the Florida Sporting Clays Association, NSCA Florida State Delegate, and Southeast Regional Delegate. As Chief Instructor, he will continue to be based in Florida.

Currently was most recently the General Manager and Shooting Professional at the Gilchrist Club, an upland bird hunting and shooting resort in Florida. Before committing himself to fulltime coaching, Currie simultaneously served in a variety of senior leadership roles for publicly held companies, including Dixon Ticonderoga, where he held the position of CEO. He served seven years in the U.S. Army with the U.S. Army Rangers and other infantry units, concluding his service in 1990 as a Captain.
