Orion Scoring System Successfully Scores 2014 Daisy National BB Gun Championship

Bristow, VA - Orion Scoring System, the popular electronic scoring software, successfully scored the forty-ninth annual Daisy National BB Gun Championship in Rogers, Arkansas, from July 4-6, 2014. This year marked the first year that the competition was scored electronically and the first year that results were made available live on the Internet.

Orion has scored the Daisy Air Rifle competition for a number of years. Dr. Erik Anderson, the inventor of Orion, described, "After seeing the success Orion had with scoring the Air Rifle competition, in 2011, Daisy asked me to develop an electronic scoring solution for BB Gun targets. I wanted to develop a useful and affordable option for these athletes. This championship saw the culmination of three years of development and customer feedback. I am now pleased to say that Orion is the only electronic scoring system in the world that can score BB Gun targets."

Orion's software brought a new level of efficiency to the competition by increasing the ease of scoring and reducing the scoring time. What used to take a number of hours to accomplish, Orion achieved in just a few minutes. Unofficial results were available online within ten minutes of each relay's last shot being fired. "Because results are posted so quickly, athletes and coaches knew how well they were performing as the competition progressed," said Anderson. "They were used to not knowing the winners until the awards ceremony. Ultimately, this is very good for the sport." Over 1,100 people tuned in to Orion's Online Results Center on both days of competition to check updated scores.

Congratulations to the winning teams and individual competitors. Pierre Jr. Shooters (SD) placed first, Spink County Shooting Sports (SD) came in second, and Lake Houston 4-H Outdoor Explorers (TX) came in third. Individually, Cassandra Ryckman (Pierre Jr. Shooters, SD), Jaidyn Kramp (Spink County Shooting Sports, SD), and Hannah Leggett (Coffee County Center Shots, GA) came in first, second, and third, respectively. Please take the time to recognize all competitors for their hard work and achievements at the results link below.

"Daisy, coaches, and athletes were exceedingly happy with Orion's results," said Anderson. Following positive feedback, Daisy asked Orion to return for the 2015 competition. "I am already looking forward to coming back next year!"
