Michigan DNR Ranges Open Six Days Per Week in October

Even though it doesn't feel like it this week with the warm weather, the small game hunting seasons are open and fall is here. Beginning on October 1, the DNR shooting ranges are open six days per week (Wednesday through Monday, closed Tuesdays) to coincide with the archery deer season opener. Start sighting in your guns and use our archery ranges to ensure successful hunts this fall. We have a wooded 3-D archery course at the Ortonville range, and various targets at the other ranges to hone your archery skills.

The hours at Ortonville and Pontiac Lake are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The hours at Rose Lake and Sharonville are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The last shot is fired at 4:45 p.m. Visit the DNR shooting range webpage a www.michigan.gov/shootingranges for more information and local updates. We also have targets online that you can print before you come to the range.

Try the Mi-HUNT mapping application to help plan your next hunting trip. There are still hunter safety classes available before the firearm deer season opener, so search for a class close to home or sign up for an online class a www.michigan.gov/huntereducation. You can purchase hunting and fishing licenses online 24 hours per day.

Get outside and enjoy a Pure Michigan fall at the DNR shooting ranges!
