SPP National Director Scott Moore remarked that "This regional has become not only a great match but a "must-do" for SPP teams to kick off the new year! It is also a great example of how two premier organizations such as the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets Marksmanship Unit and GLOCK work to support the future of the shooting sports which is a such a big huge part of the rich traditions our country".

"I am very pleased that the Corps of Cadets Marksmanship Unit (CCMU) will again host this prestigious event near Texas A&M University," said Brigadier General Joe E. Ramirez, Jr., Commandant of the Corps. "The CCMU allows young men and women the opportunity to learn, train, and compete safely in the challenging sport of competitive shooting. Matches such as the Southwest Winter Regional allow a continuing level of precision and opportunity to display these skills. We are very appreciative of the collaboration with GLOCK USA and the Gunsmoke Shooting Range to bring this opportunity to fruition."

The match will begin with a volley fired by the Cadet Corps own Parson Mounted Cavalry ( http://www.aggienetwork.com/news/126428/parsons-mounted-cavalry/ ) and their newly acquired 105mm field howitzer.

The cadets of the CCMU are supported and funded through the Office of the Commandant of the Corps of Cadets, and the generous efforts of the Corps of Cadets Association (http://www.corpsofcadets.org ) a private non-profit group committed to sustaining the 138 year old traditions of the Cadet Corps at Texas A&M.
