Sets Guinness World Record in support of Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever
Harrisonville, Mo. – By breaking 3,653 clay targets in 60 minutes – that's one target every .985 of a second – Dave Miller, CZ-USA's Pro-Shooter & Shotgun Product Manager, set a new Guinness World Record at the first-ever Clays for Kids event, helping raise more than $80,000 in support of Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever's youth shooting sports programs.
"This was a true team effort; my job was easy, all I had to was shoot clays," said Dave Miller, CZ-USA shotgun product manager. "I am very proud to be a part of such a great team of people for such a great cause. I firmly believe in the No Child Left Indoors Initiative and I challenge everyone to take a youth outdoors and teach them the concept of safe gun handling. These skills will allow future generations to enjoy the sport of recreational shooting as individuals and as a family activity."
Hundreds of Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever members and staff, spectators, supporters and donors witnessed the event on May 16 at Heartland Trap & Wobble Skeet. The extraordinary effort was accomplished with the help of 24 volunteer shell loaders and 30 CZ-USA shotguns featuring 16-shell Nordic Components magazine extensions. Proceeds from the event benefit Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever's
No Child Left Indoors® initiative, namely its Forever Shooting Sports program.
"As a wildlife habitat conservation group, we have witnessed the direct link between youth shooting sports and developing a passion for the outdoors," stated John Linquist, Forever Shooting Sports national coordinator for Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever. "The funds generated from our Clays for Kids event will provide more opportunities to immerse up-and-coming generations in the sport of shooting. If we can accomplish this step, the future looks bright for our traditions of hunting and conservation - a central focus for Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever."
