Team members Drew Lieske and Ian DuPre receive All-American Awards
HILLSDALE, Mich. – Hillsdale College congratulates the Chargers Shotgun Sports Team, which finished first overall at the Division III Association of College Unions International (ACUI) 48th Annual Clay Targets Tournament. The championship event, held March 29 to April 3, consisted of 76 teams from around the country. The Chargers' score of 2203 was the third-best score posted by any school across all divisions.
"All members of the team worked exceedingly hard this year, and their dedication and commitment paid off," said Mike Carl, head coach for the Chargers Shotgun Sports Team. "They went into the tournament very well prepared. Over the course of the five-day and six-event tournament, each of them were at the top of the leader board in all events."
Chargers' team members Kie Kababik and Jordan Hintz both shot a perfect 100 in American trap, with Jordan finishing shoot-offs with a bronze medal. Following the tournament, Drew Lieske was named 1st Team All-American and Ian DuPre named 2nd Team All-America. Joe Kain received an honorable mention.
The ACUI Championship hosted 750 participants from 76 colleges nationwide. The Charger team will host an open house for its new sporting clays course on April 30.
