NASP Academic Archer program Concludes

US and International response from educators and coaches to NASP®'s new Academic Archer program has been outstanding! Registration concluded for the 2015/2016 school year on April 30th with 8,517 students enrolled into the program. Educators from 38 US states and two Canadian Provinces implemented the NASP® Academic Archer Program with their students.

Using the existing pool of registered Academic Archers that will compete in the upcoming national tournament, NASP® will soon name the first ever NASP® All-Academic Archery Team. Dr. Tommy Floyd, Vice President of NASP® said, "We will soon identify the top 24 boys and girls who were registered as AA and who shot at the US or Canadian Nationals. To qualify for the AA Team we will go through the National tournament standings and match top scores with AA enrollees. It is our hope, that the competitive nature of some of the teachers and coaches, will result in students who on the cusp of being stand-out students or archers, will be encouraged to get over the hump to make the team next year."

Recently, NASP® conducted a random computer drawing and selected ten students names from among registered AAs. Each of these young people won a new Genesis Bow and custom Easton AA Arrows! Due to a generous sponsor who purchased the bows, and Easton Archery for donating the arrows, these ten lucky Academic Archers will soon be receiving their new equipment. This year's Genesis Bow and Easton Arrow Winners were from KY, SC, GA, IL, TN, IA, OK, AK, and MI.

NASP® President Roy Grimes reminded everyone, "We will launch the Academic Archer program in early September for the 2016/2017 school year. We hope that every NASP® jurisdiction will enroll students in AA. We'd like to see the number top 50,000 students next year. It is our intention to increasingly send the strongest message possible, about how teaching archery as part of the school curriculum, is important to the mission of educators. As I've stated before, the more we emphasize in-school archery as an extension of the classroom, the more that educators can use it, as a motivational tool to reach more students!
