Hailey Ordnance Silencer Technology at NRA 2016

Oklahoma City, Okla. –– Hailey Ordnance Company will be displaying two of their new silencers that feature unique, patented and patent pending technologies at booth #5685 at the NRA 2016 Annual Meetings. With interest in silencers and firearm suppression at an all-time high, company executives feel the timing is ideal to show these products at a consumer-oriented show, like NRA's Annual Meetings.

"The NRA show is the perfect venue to show new products because we are able to get immediate feedback from actual users," said Stephen Hailey, president of Hailey Ordnance. "We are very excited about both of these silencers because they not only maximize suppression, they also offer features not currently found in the industry." The company will be displaying the new AeGIS (Adjustable Gas Integrated Suppressor) and the PRAEFECT integral suppressor. Both models feature match grade, Lothar Walther, stainless steel barrels with Grade 9 titanium external sleeves, but the true innovation lies within the silencers.

Inside the AeGIS's integrally suppressed barrel is a gas "bleed off" port that (with a simple adjustment) allows the user to reduce the velocity of supersonic ammunition to the subsonic range. This design feature means that shooters are no longer restricted to the use of subsonic ammunition to achieve maximum suppression. Matt Wilkes, the company's head of research and development, commented, "We wanted to create a simple way to squeeze the maximum performance out of a round while simultaneously optimizing sound abatement. The result is a design feature that removes the need to find ammunition that gives you the best sound signature, the AeGIS can do it for you." The AeGIS is currently available as a drop-in replacement for any 10/22-pattern rifle able to accept a .920 inch diameter barrel.

The PRAEFECT integral suppressor, another integral silencer design, features Hailey's patent pending "PitViper" baffle system and will be available in calibers ranging from .17 to .30. However, the feature that the company is currently focused on for this model is another patent pending feature that allows users to easily drop in and headspace the barrel in a Savage A17 .17 HMR rifle, without the help of a gunsmith or special tools. "This design feature was not without its challenges, but we were able to find a solution that allows for a true drop-in barrel replacement that would otherwise require considerable work by a gunsmith," said Hailey. "We will be using this feature in a number of ways in the future. I am very pleased with how easy it makes the process for users that would otherwise have to spend a lot of money for a gunsmith to complete the installation."
