Wisconsin's Central Falcons Varsity Shooters Take Doubles Skeet Title at 2016 SCTP Nationals

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Led by the division's Top Gun honoree, the Central Falcons out of Wisconsin took the Doubles Skeet Varsity Division title at the 2016 Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) National Team Championships in Ohio by breaking 280 of 300 targets.

Held July 9-16 at the Cardinal Shooting Center in Marengo, Ohio, nearly 2,200 athletes representing 28 states faced more than 961,000 clay targets during eight days of competition in the shooting disciplines of Trap, Skeet and Sporting Clays.

Benjamin Schroeder of Cherry Valley, Ill. led all shooters in the division with 97 targets. The Falcons' winning run was aided by John Dietz of Kenosha, Wisc. who finished with 92 targets and Hunter Conrad of Bristol, Wisc. with 91.

Second place with 275 went to the a Volunteer State squad, the Haywood Young Guns. Tennessee shooters Zachary Tinsley of Bells, Blake Robinson of Huron and Jonathan Vandiver of Jackson finished with 93, 92 and 90 targets, respectively.

The Brookline Top Shots out of Georgia, who also finished with 275 targets in regulation, placed third. Kevin Bandt of Fort Valley led Brookline with 94, followed by Morgan E. Goette of Milledgeville with 91 and Chase Crutchfield of Round Oak with 90.

The Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) is a youth development program in which adult coaches and other volunteers use the shooting sports of Trap, Skeet and Sporting Clays, as well as the Olympic disciplines of Bunker Trap, Trap Doubles and International Skeet to teach and to demonstrate sportsmanship, responsibility, honesty, ethics, integrity, teamwork, and other positive life skills. Nationally, there are nearly 13,700 students and more than 2,900 coaches from 43 states participating in the Scholastic Clay Target Program.

The Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation, Inc. (SSSF), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is the National Governing Body for the Scholastic Clay Target Program. SCTP was started by the National Shooting Sports Foundation in 2001.
