Haywood Young Guns (Tenn.) Take Intermediate/Entry Level Div. Skeet National Title

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Haywood Young Guns out of Tennessee delivered big for the Volunteer State with their Skeet title win in the Intermediate/Entry Level Division at the 2016 Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) National Team Championships in Ohio.

The trio of Young Guns combined for 546 total targets to win the title. Cason Robbins of Jackson led the squad with 191, followed by Sterling Mansfield of Humboldt with 188 and William (Will) Parkey of Gadsden with 167.

Held July 9-16 at the Cardinal Shooting Center in Marengo, Ohio, nearly 2,200 athletes representing 28 states faced more than 961,000 clay targets during eight days of competition in the shooting disciplines of Trap, Skeet and Sporting Clays.

Georgia's Lake Oconee Shotgun Team finished second with 543 and were led by Baylor Garland of Eatonton with 193, followed by Hank Hall of Eatonton with 186 and Tyler Urrutia of Greensboro with 164.

Third place went to the Str8 Shooters Clay Team from Tennessee with 538. Brae and Blythe Booker of Soddy Daisy broke 186 and 184 target, respectively, followed by Chattanooga's Daniel Colloms with 168.

Breaking 514 of their 600 targets, the Bridge Creek Clays from Georgia finished fourth and were led by Jackson Scott of Leesburg with 184, followed by Brady Ragan of Camilla with 166 and Taylor Wray of Camilla with 164.

Rounding out the top five was the Monroe County squad from Tennessee with 511. Archer Reese of Decatur finished with 194, followed by Lane Hicks of Sweetwater with 164 and Drake Randolph of Lenoir City with 153

The Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) is a youth development program in which adult coaches and other volunteers use the shooting sports of Trap, Skeet and Sporting Clays, as well as the Olympic disciplines of Bunker Trap, Trap Doubles and International Skeet to teach and to demonstrate sportsmanship, responsibility, honesty, ethics, integrity, teamwork, and other positive life skills. Nationally, there are nearly 13,700 students and more than 2,900 coaches from 43 states participating in the Scholastic Clay Target Program.

The Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation, Inc. (SSSF), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is the National Governing Body for the Scholastic Clay Target Program. SCTP was started by the National Shooting Sports Foundation in 2001.
