Hornady® Employees Dominate at Long Range Shooting Competition

Grand Island, NE. Hornady employees, John Potratz, Craig Anderson, Trampas Kluender, Justin Morrow, Anthony Landers and Matt Ritchie dominated at the International Benchrest Shooters 1000 yard competition in Harris, Minnesota, June 23-25, 2017. The shooters were awarded 12 medals and competed in heavy wind and rain.

Hornady 6mm 108 gr. ELD Match, 6.5mm
140 gr. ELD Match, 7mm 162 gr. ELD Match and 30 cal 208 gr. ELD Match bullets were used at the competition. Each round was hand loaded by the shooters using Hornady brass, bullets, and reloading equipment.

International Benchrest shooting requires precision and repeatability. In order to be successful, shooters must tune their gun, learn to read the wind, and adjust for range variables. Group placement on the target isn't scored. The objective is to put all bullets through the same hole.

John Potratz has been a Bullet Press Operator at Hornady for 32 years and takes pride in testing bullets in the factory and at the range. "I shot Hornady 30 cal. 208 gr. ELD Match bullets in my heavy gun and they performed flawlessly," said Potratz.

Accuracy and performance propelled Potratz to a first-place finish in heavy gun each day of the match.
