R&D/Manufacturing Engineer – Mesa, AZ

Perform product design, conduct production refinement and improvement activities, and perform research and testing activities. This position works closely with Berger’s Senior Ballistician to implement new projectile designs into the manufacturing process. Also, works closely with manufacturing departments on analyzing and implementing improvements to the production processes, capital equipment, tooling, and controls.

Duties

-          Leads the manufacturing effort in implementing new bullet designs into production launch.

-          Understands engineering drawings, ballistic drawings and the expectations of new bullet designs.

-          Implements tooling design changes for new products and existing products.

-          Oversees engineering drawing and technical document retention.

-          Coordinates production studies to improve processes, quality, efficiencies, and controls.

-          Coordinates upgrades and capital projects for the plant.

-          Designs and develops tooling, machines, and equipment for product implementation and improvements.

Requirements, Education and Skills

-          Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering or Scientific discipline is required

-          Metallurgy, materials science, and metal forming skills and experience required

-          A minimum of four (4) years of relative engineering experience is required

-          Successful track record of the ability to work independently and within a team and solving technical problems with creative solutions is required

-          Experience using computer aided design (CAD) and tool design is required

-          Experience with bullet manufacturing and in materials is highly preferred

-          Experience with tooling design highly preferred

-          Experience is one or more projects involving the design of a product from concept to commercialization highly preferred

-          Ability to demonstrate strong initiative and follow-through in executing project responsibilities, overcoming obstacles and balancing multiple priorities effectively.
