CAMP PERRY, Ohio – The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) hosts a number of outdoor rifle events throughout the year on the grounds of its headquarters, located at the Camp Perry National Guard Training Facility in Ohio.
Three Garand-Springfield-Vintage-Modern Military (GSM) Matches will be held on Petrarca Range, with Excellence-In-Competition (EIC) and other rifle competitions set to be fired on the larger ranges of Camp Perry.
Competitors will fire on Kongsberg Electronic Targets (KTS). The KTS system registers each shot and relays the location and score value to a monitor beside each shooter on the firing line. Electronic Target Scoring Rules are available in the current edition of the CMP HP Rifle Competition Rulebook.
To register for the events, visit the CMP website at http://thecmp.org/competitions/matches/camp-perry-matches/. Click on the link for your desired match and be directed to Competition Tracker, which will feature entry fees, firing times and other details of each individual event.
In addition to events scheduled by the CMP, the Friends of Camp Perry (a non-profit organization) also occasionally hosts matches on the Camp Perry ranges. Their next event is a Pistol Pop Up Shoot, set for April 11, 2020. The Rifle Pop Up is currently scheduled for Nov. 7, 2020. Registration for both events begins at 7:00 a.m. on the day of match, with a start time of 8:30 a.m.
Since 1995, members of the Friends of Camp Perry have dedicated themselves and their time to the historical training base. Comprised solely of volunteers, the organization has assisted in preservation projects such as the restoration of the “Gratitude Train” and the “Baggage Station,” which are marked with historical posts. The group also lends support to current Army and Air National Guard members through several projects, backed by fundraising efforts.
