NASP Cancels National Tournaments

The National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP®) is formally announcing the cancellation of the 2020 Western National Tournament in Sandy, Utah - April 24-25, 2020 and the Eastern National Tournament in Louisville, Kentucky – May 7-9, 2020.

We believe that the potential health risks for our student archers and spectators to be simply too significant for us to continue with our current plans. We cannot, in good conscience, place thousands of participants and their supporters together within a confined space during the current viral environment. In short, we believe that this decision is the “right thing” for us to do toward keeping the health and welfare of kids as our first priority, regardless of any other factor.

NASP® is keenly aware of the tremendous effort already put in by student-archers, coaches and schools across all of our jurisdictions to qualify for a National Championship title. At this time, NASP® still has hopes and plans for a potential “National Championship Event” in June at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach Florida. These hopes and plans will of course depend on Federal and state health advisements at the time. At such time that these recommendations allow for the continuance (or even expansion) of that Daytona culminating event, NASP® will communicate appropriately and in a timely manner regarding any/all potential opportunities for NASP® archers and the continuance of the 2019/2020 tournament season.”
