Hillsdale College Earns Top Honors at SASP Nationals with Springfield Armory Firearms

The Hillsdale Action Shooting Team, with sponsorship support from Springfield Armory®, competed and won at the Scholastic Action Shooting Program (SASP) Nationals held at the Talladega Civilian Marksmanship Park March 9th and 10th this year.

Over the course of the two days, the school’s highly skilled squads took first place in the Centerfire Optic category, second and third place in Centerfire Pistol, and second and third place in the 1911 category.

Springfield Armory has been a proud sponsor of the Hillsdale Action Shooting Team since 2019, providing firearms such as the 1911 DS Prodigy™ and Echelon™, gear, and access to training with champion shooter Rob Leatham. The company has also funded an academic scholarship for qualifying members of the shooting team.

Hillsdale College, located in Hillsdale, Michigan, has built a national reputation through its principled refusal to accept federal or state taxpayer subsidies, even indirectly in the form of student grants or loans. With an emphasis on a traditional, classical core curriculum, the college is ranked among the top liberal arts colleges in the United States and is known for its academic rigor.

“Interest in the competitive shooting sports is growing all across the country, and I think our students’ repeated success in them makes Hillsdale College an important force in their development and popularity,” said Rich Péwé, Chief Administrative Officer for Hillsdale College. “This success is due to the hard work and commitment of the team as well as Springfield Armory’s strong, continued support.”

“We could not be prouder of the continued success of the Hillsdale Action Shooting Team,” said Steve Kramer, Vice President of Marketing for Springfield Amory. “Their skill, combined with the consistent support and exceptional firearms of Springfield Armory, makes for an unbeatable combination.”
