Broski, Reynolds & Garrison Enjoy Big Days to Conclude Trap Competition at USA Shooting National Championships

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado –

USA Shooting’s junior shotgun talent was on full display Saturday from International Shooting Park just outside Colorado Springs. Five mentally draining days of trap competition came to conclusion at the National Championships for Shotgun.

Standing victorious twice on the day was Roe Reynolds (Quitman, Arkansas), who captured the Men’s Junior title early on Saturday and then came back to team with Carey Garrison (Crossville, Tennessee) and win the Mixed Team event as well. The 19-year-old Reynolds qualified in sixth position, shooting 231 targets out of 250. Once in the Final, the restart of scores was just the opportunity Reynolds would need and he would seize it, outdistancing the competition by three targets in the Final. Matthew Wells (Beaver Dam, Wisconsi) was second while Grayson Davey (Anchorage, Alaska) finished third, after being the leading qualifier with a score of 235.

Lance Thompson (Carlisle, Pennsylvania), Steven Brown (Anchorage, Alaska) and Dylan Ziegler(Reno, Nevada) round out the top six spots in the men’s junior ranks.

The Junior Finals of Men’s and Women’s trap carried over to Saturday following significant weather delays Friday.

Heather Broski (Spring Hill, Tennessee) is the Women’s Junior champion after an intense battle with Garrison. Garrison led all qualifiers with a score of 226, five better than Broski. Broski would come back in the Finals to beat Garrison by two targets with a score of 45/50, to Garrison’s 43. Jade Krolikowski (Dannebrog, Nebraska) earned the bronze medal.

Nicole Manhave (Longview, Texas), Tomi Ownby (Scottsdale, Arizona), Sydney Krieger (Prior Lake, Minnesota) and Madeleine Taylor (Eagle River, Alaska) round out the next four spots in the women’s junior ranks.

Thirty-one teams participated in the Mixed Team competition with the juniors excelling as Reynolds and Garrison tied for the fifth-best Qualification score of 140/150. They’d win the Final by one target over Glenn Eller (Katy, Texas) and Aeriel Skinner (Jackson, California), missing just four targets out of 50. Bronze medalists were Caleb Lindsey (Spring Hill, Tennessee) and Emma Williams (Savannah, Tennessee) after leading all qualifiers on the day with a combined score of 143.

Rounding out the top-six finishers: Brian Burrows (Fallbrook, California)/Kayle Browning (Wooster, Arkansas); the U.S. Army Marksmanship (USAMU) Team of Seth Inman (Lexington, Missouri)/Alicia Gough (Burlington, Wisconsin); Derek Haldeman (USAMU/Sunbury, Ohio) and Ashley Carroll (Solvang, California).

International Shooting Park and trap competition will remain abuzz next week with the start of the National Junior Olympic Shooting Championships beginning Tuesday and the Para Trap National Championships starting Friday. National Championships for Skeet begins Sunday, June 16.
