Youth Shooting Sports Alliance Opens 2020 Grant Opportunities

Omaha, Neb. – Beginning immediately, the Youth Shooting Sports Alliance (YSSA) is offering youth shooting programs an opportunity to receive new and used firearms, archery equipment and accessories on a loan basis for 2020. Program leaders are encouraged to participate in the grant process, available now through January 31, 2020.

“Thanks to generous support from the shooting sports industry, the YSSA will continue to supply or loan shooting equipment for youth programs, many of which have a desperate need for quality equipment,” according to Cyndi Flannigan, YSSA executive director. This marks the thirteenth year YSSA has offered shooting products to youth programs.

In addition to .22 rimfire rifles, pistols, shotguns, BB guns and archery equipment, the YSSA will be adding a small supply of centerfire rifles for hunting programs designed to introduce the sport to boys and girls across the country.

“We are strong advocates of getting children outside to participate in all aspects of the shooting sports,” Flannigan said. “The addition of centerfire rifles to the mix has been requested by youth programs. If you need certain equipment based on the curriculum of the program, we will do our best to acquire those products.”

Grants are approved contingent on the program length, size and product availability. Ensure that your program is registered on the program section of the website: www.youthshootingsa.com. By registering your program on this website, you will become eligible for discounts from certain suppliers when items from YSSA are not available. A list of the products available are listed in the grant application.

All firearms and archery products are available for loan only and returned per the contract agreement, however, some accessory items will be donated.

The Youth Shooting Sports Alliance was founded in 2007, an offshoot of the National 4-H Youth Shooting Sports program. To date, the YSSA has loaned more than $1.5 million in equipment to youth programs across the country, benefitting more than 85,000 youth.
