CMP Advanced Maintenance Class at National Matches

CAMP PERRY, Ohio – The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) has added an Advanced Maintenance Class to the National Matches Long Range schedule, set for Aug. 4-6, 2020. The class will be held at the Camp Perry National Guard Training Facility in Ohio.

The Advanced Maintenance Class (AMC) is a three-day course led by the qualified CMP Custom Shop supervisor, Chris Hord. Designed for those who wish to take their passion for the timeless M1 Garand to the next level, the Advanced Maintenance Class (AMC) offers students a unique opportunity to receive unparalleled, one-on-one training. Topics such as head space, barrel installation, component purpose/function, general rifle assembly, rifle/component maintenance and various accuracy techniques will be covered. Tools for the class are provided by the CMP.

A classroom session, including instructional videos and a detailed visual presentation, will be accompanied by discussion and lecture. In conjunction with the classroom sessions, students will also receive active instruction and individualized assistance. Participants will be exposed to all information required to safely assemble and successfully fire his or her own complete rifle, under direct supervision.

Each student signed up for the class will have an option of purchasing and constructing either a Field Grade Special or a CMP Special rifles. Class fee for the AMC at Camp Perry varies, based on rifle purchase ($850 for Field Grade, $1,050 for CMP Special + $1520 class fee for each).

An additional option to build a rifle in .308WIN will also be available for the class at Camp Perry. Apart from other AMC classes on the schedule, a special 2020 CMP National Matches stock cartouche will be set for participating members.

Register for the class before June 1, 2020.

Only 20 students will be selected, at random, for the class. An additional list of stand-by registrants will also be chosen.

A confirmation email will be sent to each accepted participant, which will include a hidden link to the CMP eStore that will be used to complete the registration process. The class must be purchased on the eStore through the sent link by June 30, 2020. Failure to meet this deadline will result in forfeiture of your slot to the next applicant on a wait list. No email will be sent to students who are not selected for either a class or waitlist.
