HILLSDALE, Mich. — Hillsdale College sophomore and shotgun team member Joshua Corbin competed at the International Shooting Sports Federation World Cup in Rabat, Morocco.

“It was an honor to compete at the World Cup,” said Corbin. “I am very grateful for this amazing experience, and I look forward to future competitions.” Corbin qualified for this position at the world cup during the 2022 National Championships, where he finished in the top 6 in Open Men’s Skeet. In Morocco, he competed in the qualification rounds for Men’s Skeet for ranking points only from Jan. 13-15.

“Joshua is a great athlete and has already accomplished so much,” said Caitlin Connor, assistant program development and competition manager at Hillsdale College. “Competing at the World Cup was a great opportunity for Josh to get ranking points to become eligible for future Olympic trials.” The ISSF began hosting World Cups in 1986 to establish a regular system of qualification for Olympic shooting competitions. Four World Cups are held each year. This is Corbin’s first, creating for him the possibility of future Olympic qualification.

Corbin’s World Cup appearance is the latest instance of a Hillsdale College shotgun team member competing on the international stage. In March 2022, senior Ida Brown became the first Hillsdale College student to secure a World Cup medal when she was awarded a silver medal during the World Cup in Nicosia, Cyprus. Freshman Jordan Sapp took home a gold medal during the World Cup in Suhl, Germany, in May. Just last month, Hillsdale College Assistant Shotgun Coach Caitlin Connor earned a gold medal at the ISSF President’s Cup in Cairo, Egypt.
