Scopos is pleased to announce the formation of the National Intercollegiate Rifle League. This new national league will allow college rifle club programs to compete against each other throughout the school year. College club teams will compete virtually, every other week, in an eight game season. Four games in the Fall and an additional four games in the Winter and Spring.

Erik Anderson Ph.D., the league’s administrator, cites the reason for starting the league rather simply. “Nationally, there are a number of colleges and universities that have rifle clubs that help enrich their student bodies. By organizing these clubs into a national league, we will be able to help modernize, promote, and with any luck, grow these programs.”

Scopos’ league system offers a number of advantages to modernize intercollegiate rifle competitions: regular, quality competitions, a spectator-friendly website, and automation to watch scores live as teams shoot, to name just a few. Additionally, teams will be promoted through weekly press releases sent to the national press and their school’s newspapers.

The Intercollegiate Rifle League will start its preseason on September 22nd, with the regular season starting October 6th. Teams will shoot a 60 shot air rifle course of fire, with the top four team member scores counting towards the team total. Games are every other week. With a winter break between semesters, the league concludes in the Spring on March 1st.
