Shootin Stars Archery Hosts North Carolina S3DA 3D Regional Qualifier

Williamsburg, KY – Shootin Stars Archery team hosted the third 3D regional qualifier of the 2023 season for North Carolina S3DA at the McDowell County Shooting range in Marion, North Carolina. The host venue - McDowell County Shooting Range, is available through a partnership between the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission and McDowell County. Archers and their families traveled from across the state to attend this shoot as this was the first time NC S3DA had held a competition at this venue. Approximately, 54 archers from seven teams participated in this regional qualifier to qualify to compete in the upcoming North Carolina S3DA 3D State Championship set to take place on Saturday, June 10th, 2023, at Sage Creek 3D Archery Range.

“This course was challenging with lots of different yardages, but it was also fun to judge and allowed for some clever maneuvering on a couple of shots. I enjoyed shooting with all my archery friends from across the state,” said PCA Thunderbirds archer, Heather Carswell.

North Carolina S3DA State Coordinator, Chris Poston said, “This was a great facility for our third 3D regional qualifier of the season. The range was challenging but it seemed that the archers really enjoyed it. I would like to thank Shootin Stars Archery Team and McDowell County Shooting Range for hosting this event.”

“We enjoyed seeing the kids come out and shoot together. We were honored to host our first tournament and we would really like to thank McDowell County Shooting range for allowing us to use their facility so these archers could showcase their skills and have a great time shooting the sport that we all love. Our team as well as McDowell County staff heard nothing but compliments about the course. This tournament was just one of many that we hope to have here. This is how we keep the sport of archery growing,” stated Misty Yelton, Head Coach of Shootin Stars Archery.
