Aurora Sportsmen’s Club Hosts Illinois S3DA 3D Regional

Williamsburg, KY – The Aurora Sportsmen’s Club has been in business for over 70 years and is the oldest and largest private shooting sports club in Northern Illinois. The club headquarters is in Waterman, Illinois, which is about 60 miles west of Chicago. The club offers various ranges and courses for training, education, conservation, and outdoor shooting sports on their 270+ acre spread. Illinois S3DA was super excited to get the opportunity to work with Aurora Sportsmen’s Club to host their very first Illinois S3DA 3D regional. Aurora Sportsmen’s Club is brand NEW as they started an S3DA team just a little over a month ago. Aurora Sportsmen’s Clubs staff is working with Illinois S3DA to establish more teams in the Northern Illinois region so more events can be held.

Some of the archers traveled over 150 miles to shoot this event. The facility is amazing, and archers had a blast! Illinois S3DA State Coordinator, Jim Sharp stated, “It was a beautiful day to shoot some arrows. We are very thankful for the archers and their families that came out to shoot. The regional coordinators and I are excited to see growth in Northern Illinois. We will continue to promote this program to local sportsmen’s clubs, archery shops, retailers, etc.”

Aurora Sportsmen’s Club Coach Sam Swafford said, “We are very excited to help bring a sport we love to the kids in our area. We can’t wait to grow our local team even more and are very thankful for the Illinois S3DA State Coordinator, Jim Sharp and Regional Coordinator, Dave Williams for helping us kick off our first event. We look forward to working with them in the future.”

About Scholastic 3-D Archery

Scholastic 3-D Archery (S3DA) is a unique, family-oriented youth archery program which has grown exponentially across the United States as a next-step initiative to follow introductory archery programs. The mission of the Scholastic

3-D Archery program is to foster, educate and guide youth in the areas of 3D, indoor target, and outdoor target archery as well as safe, ethical bowhunting practices. The goal of the S3DA program is to provide archery and bowhunting opportunities to youth in after-school settings, as well as with archery-affiliated clubs and businesses in the community. S3DA youth participate in 3-D and target archery using compound and traditional archery equipment. Youth members can participate at regional, state and national archery events and earn college scholarships from colleges and universities across the United States. S3DA addresses the need for a program to bridge beginning target archery experience and more advanced activities such as 3-D shooting and bowhunting. The program currently operates across the United States with hundreds of certified coaches serving thousands of youth archers.
