Kentucky S3DA Hosts 3-D Regional at Pulaski County Park

Williamsburg, KY – Kentucky S3DA hosted the 4th 3-D regional of the 2019 season at Pulaski County Park in Nancy, Kentucky. Pulaski County Park is located on 804 acres in western Pulaski County, Kentucky and borders Lake Cumberland. This park is primarily wooded, rugged, and with beautiful terrain which provides a great venue for an archery tournament. Three Kentucky S3DA clubs (Southwestern High School, Madison 3D Archery, and Lake Cumberland Arrow Slingers) partnered with the Pulaski County Park to host this 3-D regional. “This is a beautiful park and a perfect place for an event,” said Boyd County Coach, Steve Powers.

Archers from 4 different Kentucky teams and 14 clubs enjoyed the sunshine and beautiful spring weather out on the ranges. There was a total of 155 archers participating in this event.

“We have several new archers to Kentucky S3DA that were in attendance for this tournament. It is great to see our more experienced archers getting the new archers involved and explaining where they need to go, how to score and giving them some tips about shooting,” stated KY S3DA State Coordinator, Stacy Groce.

“The weather was perfect for a 3D tournament!” stated Cody Kline, West Carter Comets. Kentucky now looks forward to the next Regional 3-D Tournament to be held at Boyd County High School. Kentucky S3DA has shown tremendous growth in 2019 and the Kentucky 3-D State Tournament to be held in London, KY in June promises to be both exciting and popular.

Started in December 2012 by the Scholastic Archery Association, S3DA has grown exponentially as a next step program to follow introductory programs offered as part of 4-H or the National Archery in Schools Program. S3DA addresses the need for a program to bridge beginning target archery experience and more advanced activities such as 3-D shooting and bowhunting. The program currently operates across the United States with hundreds of certified coaches serving

thousands of young archers, grades 3–12.
