April GUNS Magazine Salutes Ruger Collector’s Series 10/22

American as apple pie and cruising the strip on a Saturday night, the Ruger Collector Series “Vote 2020” Special Edition 10/22 tops the April issue of GUNS Magazine.

Sporting a patriotic American flag motif, rotary magazine, threaded muzzle and protected blade front sight, the controls are a standard 10/22 affair, with a cross-bolt pushbutton safety and magazine-release lever. Running the test model through its paces, Roy Huntington lends, “I found good old CCI Mini-Mag HP ammo paired neatly and gave group after group in that 1.25" to 1.5" range at 50 yards. I swear this was ammo was made for Ruger’s 10/22 carbines specifically! ”

Is the Walther Q4 SF better than 007 deserves? David Freeman argues the high-quality, all-steel handgun looks and feels like a top-end pistol Q would rather keep for himself. “It’s designed to take advantage of a shooter’s natural point of aim,” he informs. “I used the Q4 to burn up some ammo festering on my shelf because I didn’t like the recoil. The Q4 digested Hornady Critical Duty ammo like popcorn. I heard the noise, but didn’t feel the sting.”

An ADCO BH Best Arms gas-powered semi-auto shotgun tops the April Firearms Package Giveaway. It carries six 12-ga. shells with the choice of small shot to 3" slugs, and sports a black-anodized finish, 20" barrel and optional tactical sight. The winner will also receive an Alfa Dot Sight from ADCO and a limited edition GUNS T-Shirt from Nine Line Apparel. Valued at a combined $465, readers are encouraged to enter the free drawing online at GUNSMagazine.com/giveaways.

Additional highlights in GUNS’ April issue include why it’s important to “baby” a scope. Though ruggedly constructed, scopes often suffer the most damage away from the field as Wayne Van Zwoll reveals in the Optics column. With the current ammo shortage, reloading is gaining traction: Jeff “Tank” Hoover outlines bullet casting for .45 Colts in the Think Tank installment, “DIY Heavy Hitters.” Editor (and grandpa) Brent T. Wheat counsels there is no room for error when it comes to the conversation about kids, grandkids and gun safety in this month’s GUNS Insider.
