HAVA Expands to the Pacific Northwest Range Event

Tacoma, WA –– Honored American Veterans Afield (HAVA) hosted their Inaugural Pacific Northwest Range Day at the Tacoma Sportsmen’s Club last weekend. The range day event brought nearly 75 Veterans together for a day of shooting, comradery, and prizes.

HAVA worked with Tacoma Sportsmen’s Club President, Mac Taylor, offering disabled veterans and wounded active-duty military guests a shooting experience they won’t soon forget. Stations available were trap shooting, primitive archery, sling shot, long range rifle, red dot pistol, and a Genesis tactical shotgun stage hosted by VerTac Training (https://www.verrettstactical.com/).

The event spanned 3 days with a different group of guests each day. This allowed for maximum attendance from local veterans and active-duty members. Each day started with attendees being gifted a goodie bag with swag quickly followed by an introduction to shooting primitive slingshot. The unique skill was quickly picked up by attendees which led to many smiles and plenty of heckling. After lunch, guests hit the range allowing each participant to enjoy the smell of gun powder and instruction from HAVA’s expert staff.

“Coming to a new range and a new area can be challenging” said Chris Fleming, event co-lead and firearms instructor for HAVA. “Our staff comprised of industry professionals and expert instructors never disappoint. They are truly there for the selfless task of serving those who have served and are still serving us on the front lines.” Fleming continues, “we will be back to visit the folks in the Pacific Northwest. They are true warriors, and their honor and character were unmatched. Thank you for showing up and giving us the opportunity to spoil you for all you have done for us.”

One guest adds, “I didn’t know how much I needed this experience. The HAVA staff enabled me to reconnect and do what I truly enjoy, shooting awesome firearms and connecting with my fellow Veterans. I can’t wait until next year!”

As ranges went cold and guests gathered at the clubhouse, they were treated with a music performance from HAVA Firearms Instructor, Hunter Sharp. Hunter traveled from southern Illinois to work with participants on the rifle range. “Stories were shared and smiles worn with pride. It was an honor to participate in this range day with our guests, as their sacrifices have meant so much to me, and to our nation”, said Sharp.
