Team Berger’s James Fox Wins High Civilian at 2021 CMP Nationals Using Factory Ammo

Mesa, AZ – Congratulations to Team Berger’s James Fox on his outstanding performance at the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) National Matches. In a discipline where hand loading is considered necessary for victory, James shot Berger 223 Remington 77 Grain OTM Tactical ammunition to finish first among all civilian competitors in the Service Rifle matches.

Fox’s individual score was the highest of all civilians in the Mountain Man Trophy Aggregate. Together with his “Team CMP” teammate, Nick Till, they won the Hearst Doubles Team Match. This is a particularly noteworthy achievement as it was the first time in CMP Nationals history a civilian team won this event.

The CMP National Championships took place July 25-28, in Camp Perry, Ohio. The Service Rifle discipline during the National Matches is fired from 200-600 yards in multiple firing positions with the AR-15, M1A, or M1 Garand Service Rifles.

“The Berger 223 Remington OTM Tactical ammunition performed as well as my handloads and allowed me to focus on my training and performance rather than loading ammunition before this important match,” Fox said.

Fox will compete next at the Oregon State Championships in October.
