Legendary Hunter Jim Shockey Joins Team Hornady

(Grand Island, Nebr.) — Two legends of the hunting world will write their next chapter together as Jim Shockey joins forces with Hornady®.

Shockey — an award-winning outdoor writer, wildlife photographer, videographer, naturalist, wilderness guide and outfitter — is joining Hornady® as a Pro Staff member and ambassador.

“I’ve always had tremendous respect for Steve Hornady, his family and his company,” Shockey said in explaining the new collaboration. “I’ve crossed paths with Steve many times over the last four decades, not only at conservation fundraisers but in some of this world’s most remote mountain ranges, searching for the toughest of the Ovis and Capra (sheep and goat) species.”

When an opportunity to work together presented itself, Shockey was more than eager to jump on board.

“It is with great pleasure and pride that I enter 2020 as a member of the Hornady team,” he said.

Hornady® President Steve Hornady noted not only the great relationship he and his son, Vice President Jason Hornady, have had with Shockey over the years but also their respect for a man who has earned his status as a living legend.

“Around the globe, Jim Shockey needs no introduction as a hunter, conservationist, adventurer and outdoor programming pioneer,” Steve Hornady said. “We look forward to helping Jim advance his goals of education and conservation while providing the best Hornady® bullets, ammunition and accessories for all his future adventures.”

Hornady® will sponsor two of Shockey’s TV shows: “Jim Shockey’s Uncharted Yukon” and “Jim Shockey’s Hunting Adventures.” In addition, Shockey will use Hornady® products in all his hunts and feature the products on social media and in other promotions.

A lifelong hunter, Shockey counts the time he spends with family as one of his fundamental reasons for hunting. With adventures that have spanned six continents and 50 countries, Shockey is also a global advocate for conservation.

Shockey owns several exclusive outfitting territories in the wild lands of Canada and is accomplished in archery, muzzleloading and rifle. Among his many honors, he was named International Hunter of the Year and received the World Conservation and Hunting Award in 2012 and received the Weatherby Hunting and Conservation Award in 2018.
