Central Michigan Goldstars Host Michigan S3DA 3D Regional Qualifier

Williamsburg, KY – The Central Michigan Sportsman’s Club in Stanton, Michigan hosted the third 3D regional qualifier of the 2023 competition season for Michigan S3DA. Spectators and archers arrived at the facility with looming skies overhead and the big question on everyone’s mind was, “Will the rain hold off for this shoot?” Despite the weather, seventy-four archers from six different teams participated in the competition making this event the largest 3D regional qualifier to date.

Smiles were seen all around the range as the air horn blew signaling the start of the event. Just a couple of targets were shot, and the rain began to fall. Attendees were pleased because it was just a light sprinkle instead of a monsoon. The light shower did not dampen the excitement or spirits of any archer or spectator. Walking the range, you could see archers cheering each other on, giggling about something another had said, and high-fiving or providing a quick fist bump when they hit their mark.

Many new archers participated in this event beside seasoned archers who were more than happy to guide them through their first 3D tournament. Their nerves began to settle once the first arrow was shot. Friendships began to grow. One young, veteran archer could be heard calming the nerves of a new archer with the words, “Just have fun! I don’t wear this sparkling tutu for nothing.”

A parent could be heard reassuring a new family that if they needed anything, just ask. The Michigan S3DA club is one big family, and they will do whatever it takes to get an archer back up and going to end the day on a positive note.

Michigan S3DA State Coordinator, Cara Waite, said, “Just walking through the course listening to the positive hum of archers and spectators made my day. The goal is for these kids to come out and have a fun-filled day. We have archers and teams across the state of Michigan, but we are very close and what I like to call Michigan S3DA family.”
