Big Wins for Krieghoff Shooters at 2022 Grand American

Krieghoff shooters ranging from veteran champions to rising stars joined approximately 3,000 trapshooters from the United States and abroad for the 123rd Grand American Trapshooting Championship. Held annually at the World Recreation and Shooting Complex located in Sparta, IL, the Grand American is known as the premier trapshooting championship.

Preliminary week highlights included Krieghoff shooter Perry Weiner winning the Krieghoff 100 Handicap event with a perfect score. Perry’s first 100-straight from the 27-yard line also completed his first Grand Slam. Team Krieghoff’s Ian Darroch placed Runner up. K-80 shooters Ryan Glow and Grant Williams helped Krieghoff secure half of the top 8 positions in the event. Lady shooters Christina Byrd and Deborah Ohye-Neilson took Runner up in the Lady I and Lady II categories respectively.

Krieghoff shooters concluded Prelim week in a big way with Richard Marshall, Jr. and Deborah Ohye-Neilson winning both the HAA and HOA champion titles in their respective categories. Chase Horton placed Runner up in the HOA. Other Krieghoff Prelim HOA Champions included Sub-Jr champ Wyatt Debrie, Junior Champion Mitchell Pierson and Dagen Voigtman, Junior Gold Champion. Breydon Paxson placed HOA Junior Gold 3rd.

Krieghoff shooters then got down to business for Grand week. The Clay Target Championship, ATA World Doubles and the Grand American Handicap considered the three crown jewels of the ten-event week proved successful for Krieghoff shooters.

Deborah Ohye-Neilson was crowned Lady II Clay Target Champion. Debbie repeated as ATA World Doubles Lady II Champion. Other notable performances in the World Doubles were posted by Noah White, Open Runner up, Wyatt Debrie Sub Jr. Third and Breydon Paxson Jr. Gold Runner up.

Travis Iksic and Grant Williams put Krieghoff on the Grand American Handicap podium with Runner up and 3rd place finishes. Dagen Voigtman won the Jr. Gold Title and Elaina McCarthy took home the Lady 1 Runner Up honors.

The 2022 Grand American concluded with the High All Around and High Over All Champions being recognized for their outstanding performances. 2022 World HAA Champion titles went to Grant Williams, Deborah Ohye-Neilson, and Elaina McCarthy. Dagen Voigtman took home Jr. Gold Runner up.

ATA 1000 Target HOA championship rings went to Ohye-Neilson and McCarthy.

Grand American competitors shot at 2600 targets during their eleven days on the line and the final count showed Richard Marshall, Jr. broke the most to win the ATA 2600 HOA Championship by an impressive ten targets. Deborah Ohye-Neilson completed another stellar Grand performance as she captured the Lady II title. K-80 Shooter Wyatt Debrie won the Sub Jr. title.
