CONCEALMENT Magazine Issue 23

APPLETON, Wis. – CONCEALMENT Magazine, a publication of CMG West, LLC, has released its latest issue, number 23, with the latest in home and self defense, new firearms reviews, and expert advice on concealed carry.

There’s no denying the popularity of micro pistols. SIG’s P365 is currently the most popular handgun in the U.S. in terms of annual sales volume, while Springfield’s Hellcat, Ruger’s Max-9, and Smith’s Shield Plus are giving it a run for the money. It seems we all love carrying the little guns, but how many of us actually shoot them enough to maintain competency? Admit it; when you head to the range to get in a little (expensive) practice, the chances are you’ll grab a full-size pistol, because they’re easier and more pleasant to spend time with.

SIG recognized this, and recently organized an IDPA-style match in New Hampshire to challenge P365 owners to compete with their carry guns. The match turned out to be a roaring success, with 13 short, challenging stages based on real-life scenarios, and they plan on making it a regular feature on their calendar. With so many carry guns in circulation, it makes perfect sense to create a match series around them, and we hope the other manufacturers get on board to expand it beyond a single brand. Presently, no one wants to run their EDC in a regular USPSA, IDPA, or two-gun match, as the limited capacity, snappy recoil, and short sight radius would place them at a disadvantage in the current equipment divisions, but a series where everyone is using the same kind of handgun would have legs.

Competition has always spurred improvements, be it in equipment or technique, and applying the same principles to the guns we rely on to protect ourselves and families is a good thing. CONCEALMENT readers tend to be the thought leaders in their social circles, so if you get an opportunity to organize or participate in a match like this, seize it — you’ll learn a lot about your equipment, how to exploit its strengths, and work around its weaknesses, which is great information to share.

Inside this issue we also review the new FN 502, Ruger LCP Max, and Arex Defense Delta Gen 2 M. We give you the inside track on printing fundamentals, off-body carry, and the current renaissance in 5.7x28mm ammo. We also discuss 22LR for home defense, how to kit out your CZ Scorpion a couple different ways, and the lowdown on red dots, backup sights, and other alternatives.
