Southfield, Michigan — After extensive hands-on testing and rigorous scoring, Athlon Outdoors has named the Sig Sauer P365 FUSE the winner of the Ballistic’s Best 2025 Compact Handguns category. Standing at the top of a highly competitive field of eight pistols, the P365 FUSE earned the highest overall score thanks to its exceptional ergonomics, shootability, accuracy, and real-world carry performance.

The Compact Handguns category continues to evolve, blurring the lines between traditional subcompacts and duty-sized pistols. This year’s contenders reflected that trend, offering shooters more capacity, better optics compatibility, and improved handling in concealable packages. To separate marketing claims from true performance, each handgun underwent multiple range sessions, and was evaluated across nine categories including ergonomics, recoil, accuracy, reliability, and value.

The Sig Sauer P365 FUSE quickly distinguished itself during testing. By pairing the slim P365 slide profile with a full-size grip module, the FUSE delivers impressive capacity, up to 21+1 rounds, without sacrificing balance or comfort. Evaluators praised its outstanding grip texture, flat-faced trigger, smooth recoil impulse, and excellent accuracy, noting that it consistently inspired confidence during drills and reloads.

Lead evaluator for Ballistic’s Best Compact Handguns William Lawson summed up the decision plainly: “There was really no question… It was just that good.” Despite a single, easily cleared malfunction during testing, the P365 FUSE dominated the score sheet, earning the highest marks in seven of the nine evaluated categories and finishing with the highest overall score of 42.38 out of 45.

Lawson and his evaluation team, representing both enthusiast and law-enforcement perspectives, emphasized that the P365 FUSE stood out not just on paper, but in how naturally it shot under mild stress. From its excellent sights to its refined trigger and well-balanced recoil, the pistol delivered a “best-of-both-worlds” experience that appealed to all three evaluators.
