Beretta: Firearms and Uniforms Provider for West Point Shooting Teams

(Accokeek, MD) Beretta is proud to become a provider of uniforms and firearms for the West Point Skeet and Trap, Combat Weapons, and Pistol shooting teams. Beretta’s commitment to performance excellence is well matched to these marksmen teams’ commitment to excellence in the shooting sports that has long been a core part of the overall West Point experience.

At a ceremony held recently at West Point, NY, nearly 80 cadets and coaches received new uniforms from Beretta, which included clothing and gear as well as eye and ear protection designed specifically to meet the needs of competitive shooters. Along with uniform kits, Beretta presented to the teams more than 55 competition-grade firearms, from shotguns to pistols for use during training and shooting competitions.

The West Point marksmanship teams compete in steel challenge, Olympic, sporting clays, 3-gun, air pistol and rifle, precision rifle series, and other practical shooting disciplines matches.

All three teams compete year-round in local, regional, and national competitions in addition to working in weekly practices into their already crowded cadet schedules. Each team is comprised of approximately 20-30 team members ranging in rank from freshman to senior.

The values of duty, honor, and country and a commitment to excellence continue to guide cadets as the United States Military Academy marches into its third century of service to the nation as the world’s premier leader development institution. During their four years at West Point, cadets undergo rigorous academic, military, physical, and character development in preparation to lead soldiers as officers in the U.S. Army.

The West Point Skeet & Trap, Combat Weapons, and Pistol teams fall within the cadet military development program as one of several voluntary marksmanship activities. Cadet team members polish their marksmanship skills, develop a love of the shooting sports, serve as role models and ambassadors for West Point, and become spokespersons for competitive and recreational shotgun, rifle, and pistol shooting. Team members forge lifelong friendships and gain invaluable experience filling important team leadership positions.
