Final Kentucky S3DA Indoor Regional Qualifier of 2021

Williamsburg, KY – Approximately 200 archers from across the state met at the West Kentucky Archery Complex in Madisonville, Kentucky to compete in the last Indoor Regional Qualifier of the 2021 Kentucky S3DA season. With multiple line times spread across the day, archers entered the facility and shot their round of 30 arrows. As archers, coaches and parents awaited final scores, the staff hurried to get scores posted and then began preparations for the upcoming “Virtual” Kentucky State Indoor Championship that is going to be spread out at multiple facilities to accommodate COVID guidelines and more participation.

Kentucky S3DA Regional Coordinator, Steve Rienstra reflected on the event, “We had a great turnout for our regional as well as some incredible competition. The top three Young Adult team scores were separated by only 2 points. The visiting teams made it possible for our regional to run smoothly because all of the archers were organized and understood all aspects of archery competitions. We look forward to hosting many more tournaments in the future and welcoming back everyone that makes up our archery family.”

Owensboro Archery Club student archer, Meg Curtis, stated, “I had a great time at the West Kentucky Archery Complex! Everything ran very well and was organized. The people are great. I have always loved competing at this facility.”

“It was exciting to get to shoot with archers from across the state at the West Kentucky Archery Complex in Madisonville this past weekend. This is such a nice facility. It was great for not only my team, but the other teams as well. I have made a lot of friends along my archery journey and we all root for one another during these competitions,” stated Western KY Bowhunters student archer, Maci West.

About Scholastic 3-D Archery

Scholastic 3-D Archery (S3DA) is a unique, family-oriented youth archery program which has grown exponentially across the United States as a next-step initiative to follow introductory archery programs. The mission of the Scholastic

3-D Archery program is to foster, educate and guide youth in the areas of 3-D, indoor target, and outdoor target archery as well as safe, ethical bowhunting practices. The goal of the S3DA program is to provide archery and bowhunting opportunities to youth in after-school settings, as well as with archery-affiliated clubs and businesses in the community. S3DA students participate in 3-D and target archery using compound and traditional archery equipment. Students can participate at local, regional, state, and national archery events and earn college scholarships from colleges and universities across the United States. S3DA addresses the need for a program to bridge beginning target archery experience and more advanced activities such as 3-D shooting and bowhunting. The program currently operates across the United States with hundreds of certified coaches serving thousands of young archers, grades 3–12.
