Barbara Mellman Skinner, longtime Bushnell Optics Public Relations representative, former Advertising and Product Specialist, passed away on October 22, 2025, in Tucson, AZ. Editors and outdoor writers covering Bushnell’s new products, including competitive shooters seeking the right optic, all knew Barbara as their go-to trusted expert.

For more than 20 years, Barbara had a successful career at Bushnell. During her tenure, she shared her deep knowledge about sporting optics at trade shows, writer events, and conferences. Barbara provided product samples, advice, and counsel to writers, and had an uncanny ability to explain in simple terms the science behind optics and their use in the field.

Following her retirement from Bushnell, Barbara moved to Tucson, Arizona, where she continued her dedication to the outdoor industry by working as a freelance consultant and mentoring writers.

Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Stan Skinner. A private memorial service is scheduled in the future, and internment will take place in a family Los Angeles plot.
