Baron Engraves "Coyote Special" LCPs

Trumbull, CT - As most of you know by now, while out on a jog this past February, Texas Governor Rick Perry took out a threatening coyote that was looking to make the governor's dog its next meal. Using a laser-sighted Sturm Ruger .380-caliber LCP, Perry required only one shot to suppress the threat.

What you may not know is that Sturm Ruger & Co. had 1,000 of these pistols made with a special-edition slide that was engraved by Baron Engraving, which also runs Ruger's Custom Engraving Shop. On the sides of each blued slide, the words "Coyote Special" (right) and "A True Texan" (left) are engraved. On the front-top portion of the slides are images of a coyote howling in the night and a Texas 5-point star. And what is even more amazing is that Baron Engraving blued, engraved and returned these 1,000 slides within four business days.

"We at Sturm Ruger are fortunate to have such a responsive partner in Baron Engraving; it gives us the flexibility to respond quickly when opportunities arise." says Mike Fifer, President and CEO of Sturm Ruger & Co.

"When Baron took over Ruger's Custom Engraving Shop almost three years ago, a myriad of outstanding projects such as this 'Coyote Special' have come forth that have really sealed the bond between Ruger and Baron. Great team, great partner!" said David Baron, President of Baron Engraving.

Our compliments to the governor for making the right decision that saved his daughter's dog and to Ruger for making such a fine handgun that works so well when it is needed.
