Michigan DNR's Ranges Open for Labor Day

The DNR staffed shooting ranges (Ortonville, Pontiac Lake, Rose Lake, and Sharonville) will be open on Monday, September 1, for the Labor Day holiday. The Ortonville and Pontiac Lake range hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (last shots at 4:45 p.m.).

The bird hunting seasons are coming soon, so increase your chances of success by using the automatic clay target throwers on Sundays through the month of August. Range staff will load the throwers for your pulling.

With fall coming, now is the time to sign up for a hunter safety class when offerings are plentiful. Search for a class close to home or sign up for an online class a www.michigan.gov/huntereducation. Remember, you can purchase hunting and fishing licenses online 24-hours a day or make a reservation at Michigan's 102 state park and recreation areas a www.michigan.gov/campgroundreservations.
