Central Falcons of Wisconsin Win High School Div. Skeet National Title

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Breaking 589 of their 600 targets in Skeet, the Central Falcons of Wisconsin won the High School Division title following competition at the 2016 Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) National Team Championships in Ohio.

The Falcons were led by Benjamin Schroeder of Cherry Valley, Ill. who broke 197 of his 200 targets. Teammates John Dietz of Kenosha, Wisc. and Andy Korando of Pleasant Prairie, Ill. each broke 196 targets.

Held July 9-16 at the Cardinal Shooting Center in Marengo, Ohio, nearly 2,200 athletes representing 28 states faced more than 961,000 clay targets during eight days of competition in the shooting disciplines of Trap, Skeet and Sporting Clays.

The Texas squad from the Allen Eagles Competitive Shooting Team finished second with 579 total targets. Brandon Stone of Plano led with 198, followed by Hunter Alford of Allen with 191 and Morgan Scott of Allen with 190.

Third place in the division with 575 went to the Hazleton Area High School (H.A.H.S.) Cougars out of Pennsylvania. The Keystone State shooters were led by Patrick Darrough of Drums with 194, followed by John T. Cibulish of Conygham with 192 and Meghan Darrough of Drums with 189.

Tennessee's Santa Fe Sharpshooters placed fourth with 574 total targets with Tori Brown of Columbia leading the squad with 194, followed by Mitch Brown of Williamsport with 192 and Garrett Mills of Columbia with 188.

Rounding out the top five in the division was the team from Iowa's Pella Shooters Club. Finishing with 569, the Pella shotgunners were led by Remington Schroder of Leighton with 196. Kolbie VanderWal of Leighton and Trent Schippers of Monroe added another 195 and 178 targets each.

The Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) is a youth development program in which adult coaches and other volunteers use the shooting sports of Trap, Skeet and Sporting Clays, as well as the Olympic disciplines of Bunker Trap, Trap Doubles and International Skeet to teach and to demonstrate sportsmanship, responsibility, honesty, ethics, integrity, teamwork, and other positive life skills. Nationally, there are nearly 13,700 students and more than 2,900 coaches from 43 states participating in the Scholastic Clay Target Program.

The Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation, Inc. (SSSF), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is the National Governing Body for the Scholastic Clay Target Program. SCTP was started by the National Shooting Sports Foundation in 2001.
