NRL Announces Sickness for Distance Battle Royale Match

Owens Armory is back to host the Battle Royale as the fourth match of the 2018 Season

Santa Ana, CA – The National Rifle League (NRL), a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to the growth and education of precision rifle shooting through a range of outdoors-related public interest activities, announced the fourth match of the 2018 season will be the Owens Armory Sickness for Distance Battle Royale.

The 2-day match will take place April 28th-29th, 2018 at Big Sandy Range near Wikieup, AZ. This will be the second NRL sanctioned match put on by Owens Armory. In 2017, the Battle Royale was the first long range precision rifle match to be held on Gunsite Academy, and completely sold-out. Competitors this year should bring a pair of binoculars or a spotting scope to help find their targets and expect a field style match with targets at longer distances than typically seen with reasonable size. Tripod or shooting stick will be provided if the competitor needs one.

Nick Owens and Tomas Meraz will be match directing again, with the addition of new NRL board of director, Christopher Tressler. Christopher has been involved in the firearms and precision rifle industry for 4 years and has been a match director for 1 year. He first got involved in the precision rifle industry through shooting at his local monthly matches.

“Enjoy contributing to the sport and to promote the Big Sandy Range,” Christopher said when asked why he decided to become a match director and contribute as a board of director on the NRL. When asked on what he would like to see in the future of precision rifle shooting sports, he replied with one word, “Growth.”

Registration for the Battle Royale is now open to both NRL Members and the public. The match will be open on a first come basis.
