In the Friday, September 4, 2015, edition, we omitted a key fact in Todd Jarrett's tips about handling small guns. Before Todd manipulates those small guns, he always "adjusts his body position so the muzzle remains downrange. Thanks to longtime reader David Giurintano for calling us out on the fact we'd made one of the best pros in the country appear to ignore a basic safety rule. Todd Jarrett is never careless when it comes to safety. It was an accidental omission, and has been clarified in our online and archival editions. Good catch, David.

Yesterday, we told you about the controversy started by an exchange of emails between Gun Talk Radio host Tom Gresham and Wounded Warrior Project PR Director Leslie Coleman. After the WWP passed on an invitation to appear on his, Coleman amplified the exchange by telling Gresham the organization did not do interviews or appear at events related to guns. Gresham posted the lengthy exchange on Facebook, igniting a firestorm that spread across the internet- and the shooting industry. In response to a query for clarification from the Professional Outdoor Media Association (POMA), the Wounded Warrior Project issued a hastily-prepared message characterizing the whole deal a "misunderstanding" due to some "unclear language" on their website and offering up a Wounded Warrior to appear on Gresham's show to talk about the WWP's work. Gresham passed, telling them that the story was now WWP's stance on guns, not their unquestioned efforts on behalf of wounded military personnel. Late yesterday afternoon, Gresham called to tell us that WWP CEO Steven Nardizzi, will be a guest on this Sunday's show. "I'm really glad that the Wounded Warrior Project is coming on the show to clarify their position on this," said Gresham. "It has been really confusing to see them taking donations from firearms manufacturers as well as hunting groups, and then to be told that they won't appear in public with us. The latest communication from WWP is that this is all a big mistake and that they want to clear it up with me this Sunday. " If you're in one of the 137 markets that carry Gun Talk, you can listen to Nardizzi. If you're an XM radio subscriber, it's available on Channel 165. The rest of us will have to be content with downloading and listening to the podcast at http://www.guntalk.libsyn.com.

The outdoor industry is uniquely characterized by personal friendships and widespread camaraderie. Today, the firearms and shooting portions of the industry mourn two losses suffered over the weekend. First, we received word that Captain Dave Arnold had died following an auto accident. Arnold was involved in USPSA, the National and International Range Officers Institutes from their inception and was a close friend of many in the shooting world. We were further stunned upon learning that Smith & Wesson Marketing Director Paul Pluff had been injured and his wife, Marsha, killed in a second crash. Marsha was a longtime Smith & Wesson Employee and we're told that S&W has been "shaken" with the news, as are all of us who consider Paul both a close friend and a colleague. Sometimes, there are no words that can ease the tremendous losses suffered by family and friends, or adequately express our own feelings. Our hearts and prayers are with both families. We are diminished by the losses. Today, we're all hurting. --Jim Shepherd

Our eagle-eyed readers were quick to point out an error in a photograph included in Friday's edition. The cutline identified the USMC shooter as GySGT Carlos Hathcock, USMC. It wasn't Hathcock, it was Lance Corporal Dalton Gunderson of the 5th Marines. Also a remarkable marksman, just not Gunnery Sergeant Hathcock. Good catch, everyone.
